A truck agent is someone who is  contracted by a carrier to find freight and dispatcher their trucks.   Truck agents get paid a percentage of the line haul for each load they place on a company truck. Truck agents can put either broker or shipper freight on company trucks, and can also broker shipper only freight to outside carriers through the representing carrier's brokerage authority.  Freight broker agents act as a middle man between the shipper and the carrier.   Freight Broker agents typically work for brokerages that do not represent carriers directly.

Q: What is the difference between a truck agent & a freight broker agent?
99% of what we do is related to being a truck agent.  While most people are not familiar with truck agent work, most will come to realize that this is the most realistic way to get into the business.  Most people do not have 3-6 months of life savings to live off of while starting their own business.  While this seems the most logical way to start, make no mistake, it takes a lot of work.  Make sure you do your home work before starting your new business.
